BALOŽU PILNI PAGALMI was formed back in the spring
of 1994 by Maris Šverns (former member of Inokentijs
Mārpls, also still performing solo). The band is most
closely connected to Rīga, Āgenskalns and "Tornis".
Currently the former concert activities of the band
have decreased and more work is being put into recording
albums. They have six released albums plus three solos
by Māris.

BIG NAME & ISMS (Ventspils)

DEPO (Rīga)
DEPO is a band consisting of four teenagers from Riga
and they are ususally referred to as one of best Latvian
bands today and almost the only hope for the Latvian
indie scene. On June 1st 2002 they released their
first cd, a 7 song ep 'Alepo' (Tornis), performing
an acoustic set on a street corner in Riga. John Peel
played 2 songs from it on his BBC Radio One shows
and named this ep as one of the best albums in August
2002. Needless to say no Latvian rockband has achieved
something like that up to now.

The most legendary Latvian underground band fronted
by Dambis (formed in 1987). One of the first bands
in Soviet Union which started to play hard core. Song

MARTINEZ GONZALEZ (Rīga)
Martinez Gonzalez project was born in 1999. Gonzalez
(Martins Strautnieks) is Latvian electronic/digital
music artist with singular and easy sounding. Compositions
reflect MG's personal trips and ambiances. Project
is based on experimenting and exploring. Work results
of which are pieces of music published on-line. MG
is not dedicated to one particular style of music
but is rather open to diverse mixture of styles ranging
from techno, exp. breakbeat to ambient interpretations.
His tool is nasty Celeron.Also MG is keyboard in project
kuba ww.kuba.lv, which is sensual organism beyond
description itself. Some time ago he was electronic
keyboard man in the band Sirke.

SKYFORGER (Rīga)
Musically SKYFORGER could be described as folk pagan
metal by themselves, although musicians do not want
stay within one definite style. On all albums one
can hear slightly different styles and influences
depending on the theme of the album. Great inspiration
comes from Latvian folkmusic, lyrics tells about brave
Latvian history and mythology. Two cd have released
on Dutch label Mascot.
